Connect to Hashem in simple steps
Action Plan to learn how to perfect ourselves
at a time when adversity presents itself
a. Describe what happened and the upset feelings – instead of just thinking of ways to affect the external circumstances, take a deep look inside;
b. Introspect to find and then write the specific thought that is causing the suffering and pain:
c .Ask yourself if this thought is pleasing to the Creator or not?
d. In what way does it contrast what the Creator tells us?
e. What truth did we deviate from? (select one: There is no other power, the Creator is one, do not stray after your eyes and heart, love the Creator, fear the Creator, Know there is a Creator)
f. With that truth in mind, what aspect of the Creator’s image within us can we bring out instead? (Who is G-d like You, Who pardons iniquity and removes transgression for the remnant of His heritage? He does not retain His wrath eternally for He is desirous of kindness. He will again be merciful to us, He will suppress our iniquities, and You will cast into the depths of the sea all of their sins. Grant truth to Yaakov, kindness to Avraham, as You have sworn to our forefathers from days of old.” See Tomer Devorah which discusses these aspects in depth to help you pick)
g. Think again about what happened and the upset feeling. Consider what would happen if the aspect of the Creator’s image is applied?
h. If there is resistance, take a breath and consider that being attached to the Creator and being like the Creator is a far greater pleasure than remaining in the negativity and heading for the victory you naturally want.
i. If there is still resistance, go back to step b with the resistance and work it through.
